I had an occasion to enter the design competition name The Shattered Glass Awards 2024 By Cantifix, architectural and structural glass specialists since 1986. The competition offers four categories to design and be creative in the way of use of the glass in the space. There were an Ambitions Award, NextGen Award, Sustainable Living Award, and Shattered Success Award. I entered the NextGen Award and got shortlisted for the three finalized with prize of the best opportunity in my life to visit their head quarter company in Frauenfeld Switzerland.

The Category Details: The NextGen Award

The NextGen Award highlights emerging professionals and/or students working in architecture, interior design, and engineering and more who creatively use glass in forward-thinking designs. This category showcases fresh perspectives and the potential of new talent in architectural glazing. What to Submit: Innovative projects that incorporate glass in unique and impactful ways, emphasizing originality and creativity.

Concept

The concept of this design is to represent “the imperfection of the glass” Since glass is one of the most popular materials in art, design, and architecture fields. The unique characteristic of this material is transparent with a clear texture that allows the sunlight to go through; however, it is also pure and fragile. It can be cracked from one spot leading to the whole object. On the other hand, that is what the uniqueness made the glass different with the attractive crack pattern created the imagination in terms of design. Therefore I use the crack pattern to create the shape of frames combined with the ripple architectural cast glass to create the perfect contrast of broken and calmness creating a wonderful shadow and reflection of the concept of “The imperfect ideal”
